Formally known as the Staffordshire Puppet Tree (because it was located in the county,) the project was set up by David Leech in April 2023.
We aim to provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to become actively involved with the wonderful world of Puppetry.
Having relocated from Staffordshire to Dorset in autumn 2025, arrangements are being made for Puppet Tree activities to begin from Spring 2026.
Puppet clubs and events are organised so members can share what they learn and present public performances for the benefit and entertainment of local communities. Browse through Past Events to see what was achieved and included.
Some events include the Alive & Kicking PELHAM PUPPETS Exhibition. Many people remember Pelham Puppets from their childhood and this exhibition provides opportunities for visitors to handle the puppets themselves.
Between April 2023 & June 2025, 88 children attended 48 weekly, after-school clubs and presented 12 public performances. 14 professional puppeteers presented a total of 47 shows to an estimated combined audience of around 2,000 people.
